LOCATIONS

Welcome to MISSION BBQ Rockville, where the smoky essence of true barbecue meets a heartfelt tribute to our heroes. Located at 885 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852, MISSION BBQ is not just a restaurant; it's a celebration of American culinary traditions and patriotism. Whether you're craving a tender brisket sandwich or indulging in a hearty meat sampler, this gem has something for everyone.

As you enter, you're greeted by a nostalgic ambiance adorned with WWII photographs that evoke a sense of pride and history. The rustic decor wraps you in comfort while the staff ensures a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Many patrons, like Seth M., rave about the beef brisket, declaring it "outstanding" and a cut above anything else in town. And they’re not wrong—this brisket is a centerpiece of their menu, cooked with care and served juicy.

At MISSION BBQ Rockville, the menu isn't just limited to delicious sandwiches. Their offerings include:

  • Meat Market: Items like pulled pork, sausage, and pulled chicken are all treated with respect and skill, showcasing the essence of authentic barbecue.
  • Side Dishes: From Baked Beans to Maggie's Mac-N-Cheese, each side complements the meat perfectly, enhancing the overall dining experience.
  • Signature Sandwiches: The Brisket Sandwich shines with rich flavors, making it a must-try for any BBQ lover.

But it’s not just the food that keeps customers coming back; it's also the culture of the restaurant. As Nicole W. shared, MISSION BBQ fosters an incredible camaraderie among its staff, creating an environment rich in education and service. The pride they take in honoring the American flag every day is palpable, making each visit feel like a shared moment of respect for our Armed Forces.

Moreover, different patrons have shared their excitement over the variety of sauces available. From the tangy Memphis Belle to the sweet Tupelo Honey Heat, these flavors add an extra dimension to the meats, allowing for customization with every bite—the irreplaceable element that keeps each meal both fresh and exciting.

While flavors like the moist brisket and tender ribs are consistently praised, some have noted that the execution can vary. For instance, one reviewer expressed a desire for even more smokiness in the brisket, using the variety of sauces to enhance the flavor. However, the overwhelming sentiment from visitors like David W. and Gracious L. emphasizes the warmth of the service and the vibrancy of the food.

In essence, MISSION BBQ Rockville provides more than just a meal; it serves a moment of connection, pride, and indulgence. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a family feast, the restaurant guarantees an experience steeped in American tradition and barbecue passion. I worked at MISSION BBQ for two years. It was the most enjoyable place I have ever worked. The camaraderie, the staff, the education that they provided for us, and the knowledge of each product and how each item was made was impeccable. The education they provided the employees was out of this world. The ingredients are fresh they are made daily. I have never seen such a working dedicated team. The food made me go from being a vegetarian to eating meat and that is how incredible it is after I have not eaten meat for over 36 years. Every day we stand in salute the American flag and stop what we're Doing And listen to the national anthem. It is a place that is a set of pride, duty, honor and country and we believed in that as we worked there and provided excellent service to our customers, I truly miss working there. There is no better place in town to get barbecue And there is no better place to go in town to support our Armed Services. Go USA

The visit was a highlight to a family visit over the weekend! The experience from placing or order to the conversation with the Manager Bridget was delightful and refreshing! Then food is flavorful, abundant, and well worth the cost and dine-in time! The Mac-n-cheese is great, ribs tender, and choices of sauces at the table allow you to experiment throughout your meal. Mission BBQ has a great support mission and their customer service experience makes it easy to want to continue patronizing their restaurant. I highly recommend Mission BBQ if you have a desire for good food and welcoming atmosphere!

Great time with my baby the other day we decided to stop off at the Rockville location and have dinner and yes it was delicious as always, the brisket was nice and tender beans and greens very tasty. The service was excellent we received our food before we could even fill our drinks so that's always a good thing. Nice and warm feel to the dining area.

Came for lunch today. I got the 2-item platter with two sides, as did my partner. Between the two of us, we got moist brisket, ribs and classic sausage. For sides, we got cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans. Each platter comes with a cornbread. Ok, so here goes. The sausage and ribs were delicious. The sides were delicious. The corn bread was delicious. And the moist brisket was . . . Brisket. It wasn't particularly moist and it tasted like what I would get if I bought a brisket at the grocery store and cooked it myself. It tasted like a piece of brisket. No smokiness, no sense of it being cooked for hours with any particular style or care. It's really disappointing. Like, I'm not getting that again. I watched as the kitchen sliced it and I could tell while watching that it was not particularly moist. The people working there were friendly and came by a couple of times to see how we were doing and to clear off the table when one of us was done. There are six sauces available and each is different, with varying degrees of spiciness and sweetness. Of the six, I preferred the Memphis Belle, Smoky Mountain and Tupelo Honey Heat. The sauces remind me of one other thing. To me (I lived 7 years in Texas outside of Houston), moist brisket should be outstanding on its own and shouldn't need sauce. But this brisket, being neither particularly moist (we both asked for moist) or unique, benefited from a liberal use of sauce. Unfortunately. I'd like to give the place a 3.5 because the brisket is so disappointing, but am rounding up for the friendly staff, the sausage and ribs were good, and the availability of 6 interesting and tasty bbq sauces.

The place has a nice retro feel. WWII photos on the wall. Rustic decor. Friendly service. I had the turkey. Moist, tender and an assortment of sauces to dress it up. My sides were cole slaw, and greens. Both were properly done. My wife had lean brisket. It was tender despite being less fatty. It had those charred ends that brought added depth to the meat. The same sauces as with the turkey, were useful adjuncts to the meat. Serious eats without the unnecessary frills. That works for me.

Food here is absolute perfection!! The brisket had the perfect amount of flavor and it was juicy. The cornbread was great. The green beans were really good,I loved the addition of bacon. The fries were crispy and fluffy inside. Loved the various drink choices by the soda fountain. Service was absolutely fantastic. I had a couple of questions about some dishes and they were answered pretty well. The atmosphere was super chill and calming. It's very clean. Definitely recommend and will be coming back.

We have been coming to this location for years now. As a family, we usually get the meat platters, with brisket (lean and moist with extra bark (for me), pulled pork and turkey, with mac and cheese, green beans, baked beans, even the seasonal potatoes. We have even catered from them too! We love mission bbq! Love their mission and ambience (they honor our military and law enforcement!), the staff is always really nice and the food is always great! This last time we had the (moist) brisket sandwiches with Mac and Cheese. Omg! It was wonderful and huge!
